Places to go shopping for Grocery
Author: Annabel Smith
Finding cheap grocery stores isn’t always easy, but that’s not necessary for you to spend all your cash on food. Being a student isn’t easy, especially if you’re paying everything on your own, I’ve come up with a short list of grocery stores, based on affordability and accessibility, that will save you lots of money eventually. So, whether you’re on a meal plan or not, I hope this list will be helpful for you.

  1. Food Basic 701 Pine St: The food here is very good and affordable. They have a diverse selection of different food items, and a wide variety of ethnic foods. Great place for those on a budget, and only a 20-minute bus ride from the University.
  2. “Small” Walmart 293 Bay St: They have a wide range of food, but not that diverse. The food here is affordable, there’s always something on sale. But it could be a hit-and-miss depending on the day, but gets 2nd spot, because it’s a 10-minute bus ride from the campus.
  3. No Frills 519 Korah Rd: This is probably the furthest from school, but its also the cheapest. They have great prices, good service, and a great selection of food. They always have great sales, and they also price match. However, be warned they don’t accept VISA credit cards and the bus ride can range from 50 minutes to 65 minutes depending on the buses you decide to take.
  4. Metro 150 Churchill Blvd: This 24 hour store is only about a 15-minute walk from campus, and is a favorite midnight snack destination for many students living on campus. Although, Metro isn’t the most affordable option, they do have some great sales on certain food, its also neat and tidy. This should be your last option, if you are not up for taking a bus ride.
